Hello new readers! I am so excited (and a bit freaked out to be honest) to launch my first blog post! The launch of this blog has been a long time coming. The Type A, perfectionist, never-fail person in me has been postponing this first entry for weeks now. But the day is here and I’m beyond excited! After months of research on how to begin a blog, I’m ready to put myself (well my thoughts into text anyway) out there.
I have always loved writing, really since I was in elementary school. Short stories, essays, letters to family and pen-pals – I enjoyed it all! In junior high I started journaling and by high school I was writing in my notebooks (I didn’t call them diaries because they never had locks on them!) almost daily. By the time I was off to college I had filled volumes with my thoughts, dreams, worries and what have you. While in college I met my now husband and that’s when my journaling started to taper off. After I met him I just didn’t have the “drama” to document! The passion for writing never left me though as i studied communication and rhetorical writing in college.
College (some 10 or so years ago) marked the start of my intrigue into blogging. Back then Facebook was just getting going – at least in my world, and Pinterest was a thing of the future so it was really difficult to find any readership besides maybe my mum and close relatives. I did start a free, beginner, no frills blog back then (Tillie’s Wonders) that never really took off. The hopes of this blog will be similar in nature though.
With this blog I want to shed some light on the undomestic wife and mom. I am a new Stay at Home Mom, but that doesn’t mean that I’m technically qualified! By nature, I am not a traditional wife or mom. Daily tasks and responsibilities are a struggle for me sometimes – cooking, bathing (everyone included!) cleaning, money management. I’d like to encourage other parents out there that might be fighting the good fight too – sharing our experiences and wisdom, recipes that even I can handle and to hopefully shed a little light on what a not so traditional house looks like.
So, long story (not so) short, welcome! Thank you for joining me, and my family, on this new journey. In my long research I read over and over to just JUMP into it, post that first entry and go from there. So this site is still “under construction” so bear with me as I learn the ins-and-outs of technology. (No really, I just learned how to clear my cache on Chrome tonight, this should be interesting 😉 ). Stick around.
