Have you breathed a little sigh of relief this week now that the holidays are over? I LIVE for the holidays but they always kind of knock the wind out of me. Christmas playlists have been replaced with our usual dance mixes, twinkling lights are down, and my precious nativity scenes now have picture frames in their place. And now that I know it’s truly over after our second Christmas celebration last weekend, I’m a bit relieved to have things back to normal around here. With New Years now in the rear view mirror too I’ve been mentally focusing on all my resolutions I’d like to take on for 2017. And do you know what I decided? Twenty-seventeen is going to be MY year! Selfish? No. Optimistic. Hopeful. Grateful.
Every year introduces new challenges in our lives, and I already know that this year will be no different for our family. My hubby started a new job and has only just begun his LONG days away from us. We are forever grateful for the hard work he puts in on our behalf, but that means that my goals need to be adjusted as well. Here’s what I’m resolving to conquer this year, in hopes that this ship will continue on it’s course. I’m putting it out there, for the “world” to see to hold myself accountable. Do you make resolutions? I’d love to hear what you’re ready to set your mind to accomplish this year. During MY year, this is what is going down:
- Organization: I LOVE organization. Like really, I adore a gorgeously organized closet or cabinet. But, you wouldn’t know that by looking around our home! I resolve to implement more organization into our schedule and home.
- Kid Time: When I became a SAHM I thought I’d spend all this time playing on the floor with the girls, taking field trips or visiting the library. This year I resolve to MAKE that time for the girls. No holding back.
- Patience: Honestly, it’s been a struggle for me this year to keep my shit together. I’ve found myself at the end of my rope, the edge of the cliff, running on my last fuse too many times. That’s not cool. That’s not me. That’s not the mom I want to be. This year I resolve to be more patient, to take a deep breath and calm the heck down.
- Work Out: I got a jump start on my fitness resolution (so that I knew I could accomplish it! 🙂 ) and started working out every day the first week of December. I only missed a few days and even after only 30 days I’m already feeling great! It’s also been helping with the “patience” resolution and my energy levels. I resolve to commit myself completely to this fitness journey!
We all think about resolutions at the beginning of January, and too often forget about them by February! Join me this year in making it a year all about YOU! Because really, with a better you, comes a better day for everyone. How does that saying go? “If mama a’int happy, nobody’s happy!” You’ve got this guys, we’ve got this. Let’s tackle 2017 with every thing we’ve got!
